There is no waiting period in Nebraska — you can register the same day you become a resident. Five ways to do it:

You don’t need to bring anything. Find your office in the county directory.
When you apply for or renew a driver’s license — in person or online during a renewal.
When you apply for, review, or change your address on certain public programs.
Print the application, sign it, and mail it to your county office. First time registering in Nebraska by mail? Include a copy of a valid photo ID, or a utility bill / bank statement / paycheck / government document dated within 60 days showing your name and address.
A United States citizen. Citizenship is verified against federal records; you get notice and a hearing before any removal
A resident of Nebraska and of the county where you register. Move counties, you re-register
At least 18 by Election Day. You can register at 17 if you’ll be 18 by the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Register the year you turn 18
If you have a felony conviction, you can register once you’ve completed your entire sentence — including parole and probation. Rights restored on completion
A court finding of mental incompetence is the one other disqualifier. You do not have to pick a party — check the nonpartisan box if you prefer.

Nebraska’s early-voting option is the mail-in ballot — no excuse required. Any registered voter can request one.
The dates aren’t arbitrary and they aren’t ours. Nebraska law defines the deadlines by rule, and we just did the counting for this cycle:
Mail / online / DMV: the third Friday before the election.
In person: before 6 PM on the second Friday before the election.
For Nov 3, 2026, that’s Oct 16 and Oct 23. Different election, different Fridays
